1.   Summary

This product bulletin announces the availability of the iSCSI Windows Host Utilities 3.0 for Native OS for First Customer Ship.

The iSCSI Windows Host Utilities is a set of documentation and utilities for simplifying configuration and troubleshooting Windows iSCSI deployments.

2.   What's New?

The iSCSI Windows Host Utilities 3.0 for Native OS is the follow-on release of the Windows iSCSI Support Kit 2.2. The naming scheme has been changed to match that of Fibre Channel Host Utilities.

1.       Support for Microsoft® software iSCSI initiator, version 2.03. Microsoft released this version with some fixes for MPIO and software iSCSI boot support.

2.       Support for Microsoft software iSCSI initiator on IA-64 platforms. Microsoft has supported IA-64 platforms with their software initiator, but previously NetApp deferred iSCSI on IA-64 platforms to PVR Required.

3.      Support for additional Multiple Connection Sessions (MCS) policies. Previously, NetApp supported only the Round-Robin MCS policy when using the Microsoft software initiator with Data ONTAP® 7.1 or later. Now all MCS policies implemented by the Microsoft software initiator are supported by NetApp:

·        Round Robin

·        Round Robin with Subset of Paths (Note: See the Release Notes for the iSCSI Windows Host Utilities for a workaround to a known issue.)

·        Weighted Paths

·        Least Queue Depth

3.   Sales Tools (Sales Guides, Training Presentations, SE Presentations)

·    TR 3441: iSCSI Multipathing Possibilities on Windows with Data ONTAP 7.1

4.   Customer-Ready Tools (Customer Presentations, Datasheets)

·      Not applicable.
